Yoga of 12-Step Recovery

We will be offering yoga with a certified yoga instructor trained in the practice of Y12SR yoga.

 

The Yoga of 12-step recovery is a relapse prevention program that was created as a holistic model to address the physical, mental and spiritual dis-ease of addiction.  Informed by the latest research in neuroscience and trauma healing, Y12SR “connects the dots” by combining the ancient wisdom and somatic approach of yoga with the cognitive approach of the most well-known addictive recovery program in the world, the 12-step recovery model. 

Mindful Meditation

A certified meditation instructor will come to the house to lead a group in mindfulness meditation.

 

Addiction is a physical disease, but it is also an illness of the mind and spirit.  Eastern cultures have meditated for thousands of years, but only recently has Western culture began to embrace meditation as a complementary therapy in the treatment of addiction.

Through a combination of mindfulness, spiritual connection and relaxation, meditation can be a powerful tool in the process of recovery.

Budget Planning

Optional budget planning sessions are available on an individual basis.  Learning to wisely manage one's finances is an essential key to achieving goals, dreams, and independence.  Together we can analyze and evaluate each resident's current financial status and expenses to that an easy to follow budget plan can be established. 

Resume Writing and Job Search Skills

While at Hazel House residents will be required to find a job.  We offer optional one on one sessions where we can work on individualized resume building as well as exploring various tools for finding and applying for jobs including ways in which you can stand out to potential employers. 

Cooking Classes

A professionally trained chef will come to the house several times per month to lead hands-on cooking classes which focus on preparing simple and healthy meals.

 

There are many benefits to learning how to cook that will aid you in various areas of your life.  While learning how to cook can lead to a healthier lifestyle and save you money, cooking is also a way to relieve stress, increase happiness, boost your confidence and bring people together. 

Nutritional Coaching

The opportunity to work with a certified Nutritional Health Coach will help free your mind from believing that living a healthy lifestyle is difficult to achieve.  Through this process, you will find a greater balance in every aspect of life, while being shown the truth about health in such a new and simple light that you can attain a solid grasp on life and your body once and for all.
